This is the first screen that you see when you access DTC duat at http://www.duat.com.
Enter you access code, password and your aircraft ID. If you don't want to enter an aircraft ID, just type "NONE". After that, click Login. That will bring you to the following screen.
I'd like to pay particular attention to the weather briefing links on the upper-left side of the screen. Let's say we're going to fly locally in Montgomery, AL. We would just click the "Specific locations" link, which would give us this:
Pretty self explanatory - just put KMGM in the Location ID, our departure time and time enroute in the appropriate places, and then we can select our weather products. If you only want a TAF, click the "Clear All" button and then select TAF. Want Winds aloft and Center Weather advisories? Select them!! Far more information that you can get with a call to the FSS, and you're not tying up the line. What's more, you will learn about the different weather products really well!!!
We'll pretend that we selected METARS, TAFs and PIREPS.
Once you've chosen the information that you want, just click the "Submit All Requests" button, and you'll get this screen:
In the "Completed Requests" section, you'll see links to the items that we've requested. When we click that link, we'll get this:
And there you have it! Pretty much, all of the briefings work the same way. Play around with it and practice...it becomes second nature!!
